Panel Discussion: Motherhood in History, Mythology, and Sociology

Come out for an evening of humor and drama. Birth is a rite of passage happening in homes, hospitals, and birth centers all over the world, turning ordinary women into Mothers. This intimate rite of passage is shrouded in secrecy. What really happens behind those doors in the hospital? Is birth always painful and scary or is there another way to do it? In the play Birth you will have a unique opportunity to step inside the birth memories of eight women and explore the thoughts behind their choices and the aftermath--both joyous and tragic--of those choices. Our production of Birth is part of an international movement, Birth ON Labor Day or BOLD.

What alternate paths are now available? What types of grants, scholarships and financial aide are available to moms going back? How to cope with a mid-life Career change? Simply, how to get through the obstacles we all may have?! Panel assembled of moms who are currently going back to school, who work in the financial Aide Departments, and are balancing it all! Relay Race for Couples and Panel Discussion: Dad's Involvement
at YWCA, 1pm. This event is for both moms and dads. See who can change a diaper, pack a lunch and do other chores with the most speed a finesse. Then sit down for a lively discussion about Super Dads. What makes a Super Dad? How can you become one? Or support one? What is it like to be a stay-at-home dad? What pressures do all dads face? Town Hall Meeting: The Trials, Tribulations, and Joys of Career/Stay-at-home Moms
at YWCA, 12pm. Forum Facilitated by Elizabeth Humphrey from Coastal Carolina Moms. Whether you work in the home or out of the home all moms work! We don't live in two separate worlds defined by our careers or our domesticity. As moms we have a vast world in common. How can we support one another? How can we not loose our individual identity as we fulfill the role of mother? How can we give ourselves time and attention without feeling guilty?
